The Lanzer See is not far from Basedow in the south of Schleswig-Holstein ( Duchy of Lauenburg district ). At 55 km it is connected to the Elbe-Lübeck Canal that runs past it to the west .
The name of the lake goes back to the municipality of Lanze near Basedow.
The lake was created in the course of gravel mining ( quarry pond ) and is privately owned. There is a campsite on the lakeshore. The small island in the lake may not be entered for nature conservation reasons.
