Lara Casanova (born October 25, 1996 in Walenstadt ) is a Swiss snowboarder . She starts in the snowboard cross discipline .

Career

Casanova, who starts for SC Flumserberg , took part in the European Cup for the first time in Cervinia in January 2012 and finished 25th and 12th. She won the silver medal at the Snowboard Junior World Championships 2016 in Rogla . She made her debut in the World Cup in December 2017 in Val Thorens , which she finished in ninth place. At the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang , she came 15th. In March 2019 she and Simona Meiler finished third in the team competition at the World Cup in Moscow . In the 2018/19 season she won two victories at the European Cup in Grasgehren and also took three second places in the European Cup. In the World Cup, she finished in the top ten four times in five starts. At the season highlight, the Snowboard World Championships 2019 in Park City , she finished tenth in the individual and eighth place in the team competition. She finished the season in seventh place in the Snowboard Cross World Cup and in the European Cup.

Casanova has taken part in 19 World Cups so far and made it into the top ten 11 times. (Status: end of season 2019/20)
