Lars Grübler

Lars Grübler (born August 22, 1980 in Schwerin ) is a former German basketball player . The center player (height: 2.11 meters) played 69 games for Brandt Hagen and Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga basketball league .

Career

At the age of 16, Grübler moved from his home town of Schwerin to Brandt Hagen . In the 1998/99 season he made his Bundesliga debut and booked 15 appearances in Germany's top division for Hagen. In 1999 he went to the United States and spent the next four years at Hofstra University . With Hofstra, Grübler entered the NCAA playoffs in his first season: for this success, the team was later inducted into the University's Hall of Fame. During his four years in the USA, Grübler played a total of 96 games for Hofstra and recorded an average of 3.6 points and 3.2 rebounds per use.

He returned to Germany in 2003 and was signed by the first division club Bayer Leverkusen . He played for the Rhinelander until 2005, followed by three years at BBC Bayreuth in the 2nd Bundesliga. This was followed by further positions in the Bundesliga lower house at Mitteldeutscher BC (2008/09) and USC Freiburg (2009/10). In the 2010/11 season, Grübler reinforced the Gotha Rockets in the third highest class, 2nd Bundesliga ProB , and then played for the regional division BC Energie Zwickau in 2011/12. In the following years he played for Hamburg clubs (TSG Bergedorf and Eimsbütteler TV, both 2nd regional league), while he advanced his professional career in the Hanseatic city.

National team

Grübler was a member of the German A2 national team and the German student national team, with which he reached the semi-finals at the 2001 Universiade.

In 1998 he took part in the European Championship with the German U22 team and also played for Germany in the U18 and U20 age range.
