Lars Jonsson (born October 22, 1952 in Stockholm ) is a Swedish bird artist, painter and author.

As an ornithologist, he is best known for his nature guides with detailed colored bird illustrations . As a painter he had his first exhibition in the Natural History Museum in Stockholm ( Naturhistoriska Riksmuseet ) at the age of 15. In 2002 he was awarded an honorary doctorate from the Faculty of History and Philosophy at Uppsala University .

Jonsson lives and works in Hamra in southern Gotland . A permanent exhibition of his works can be seen in the nearby Vamlingbo Museum.
