Lars Kristopher Larson (born March 6, 1959 in Taipei ) is an American conservative radio host from Portland , Oregon. He has hosted the US-wide The Lars Larson Show on KXL-FM Portland since 1997 . Larson worked in radio and television newsrooms from the 1970s through the 1990s. His radio show is broadcast daily in a regional version and a national version distributed by Compass Media Networks .

Life

At the age of 16, Larson gained his first experience as a speaker at the small radio station "The Mighty 1590 KTIL" in rural Tillamook , Oregon.

From 1977 to 1979, Larson studied at the University of Oregon in Eugene, but graduated from this degree to devote himself to his media engagement. He later attended courses at Gonzaga University. In 1980, Larson moved to Portland and started working for KXL-AM (now KXTG). In addition to various television engagements, he still broadcasts at the station, today KXL-FM. In 1997 his The Lars Larson Show was added to the program.

Lars Larson is a member of the Republican Party and the National Rifle Association (NRA) .

Shipment and positions

Like most talk show hosts in the USA, Lars Larson represents conservative to ultra-conservative positions. According to KXL, his program is heard by 150,000 listeners every day. The six-hour program is only interrupted by a few advertisements; Music is not broadcast.

Larson compared civil rights activists with the Ku Klux Klan in his broadcasts and made fun of climate activists.

Larson was not yet a supporter of the then presidential candidate Donald Trump in February 2016 . He saw in him a New Yorker who used to take liberal positions and was friends with Hillary Clinton . However, he later changed his stance and has supported Donald Trump's positions and presidency ever since. Like Trump, he sees most of the US media as biased and calls their reporting “fakestream”.

The moderator is against a tightening of the US gun law and always carries a Kimber Ultra Carry II with him. He claimed u. a. that the only thing that can stop a "bad man with a gun" is a "good man with a gun".

Awards

Larson received the Emmy Award and the Peabody Award .
