The Larsen Bank ( English ) is a shoal off the Budd coast of the East Antarctic Wilkesland . In the group of Windmill Islands , it is located 800 m north of Kilby Island in the northern part of Newcomb Bay at a depth of around 16 meters below sea level .
It was discovered by the crew of the icebreaker USS Glacier in February 1957. The Antarctic Names Committee of Australia named it after Ludvig Larsen, second mate on the research vessel Thala Dan in the 1962 survey of Newcomb Bay as part of the Australian National Antarctic Research Expeditions .
