The small remnants of the walls of the Larvenburg , also called Lauenburg , are located in the district of Isseroda within the municipality of Grammetal in the Weimarer Land district in Thuringia .
history
In 1357 the city of Erfurt was the owner of this 40 by 65 meter moated castle and with it had an outpost to protect the city. It was on the western edge of the village. It was a trapezoidal complex, surrounded by a moat that was surrounded by a wall. The Larvenburg became the property of the city of Erfurt in 1397. The Lauenburg manor was later built in its place . Of this, only the late Gothic, highly interesting gate entrance with a grooved archivolt survived .
The larval castle is entered in the list of cultural monuments in Grammetal as a ground monument.
