Las (Lars) Christensen (born December 12, 1721 on the Schwanholm farm in the municipality of Saustrup , † February 23, 1793 in Kronshagen ) was a German landlord and civil servant.

Live and act

Las Christensen was born on a farm that had belonged to his family for several generations. He was the son of Claus Christensen (* 1683; † 1766) and his wife Christina, née Möller, who came from Bünderies . From 1749 at the latest, he managed the Gelting estate , which his uncle Joachim Diedrich Schütt rented . In 1755 he went to Deutsch-Nienhof as a manager with his uncle , whose lease he received himself at the latest in 1757 and held it until 1766.

Christensen was a well-known farmer and economist and maintained neighborly contacts with Caspar von Saldern . The grand princely government in Kiel therefore commissioned him from 1763 onwards and appointed him chief inspector of all grand princely domain and chamber property the following year. From 1766 he managed the Vorwerk Kronshagen on an interim basis and two years later joined the new General Agriculture and Economy Improvement Directorate. In 1768 he became a member of the board's setting committee. In the same year he took over the administration of the newly formed office in Kronshagen as an official inspector. In addition, he was promoted to Chamber Council and then Judicial Council. After the Treaty of Tsarskoye Selo in 1773, he continued his work immediately under the government of the entire Danish state .

Christensen was an important figure in the great agricultural reforms of the Kiel state. His friend von Saldern specified the laying down and parceling of farms, the merger of lands and new taxes as well as the general land surveying necessary for this. Christensen himself helped to shape their principles by not only carrying out the necessary processes himself, but also defining them as far as possible and thus designing them in principle. Christensen was highly valued by Saldern and, after 1773, by the royal authorities. As a reward for this, in 1786 they complied with the request that his eldest son should continue his business as an official inspector, which contradicted the applicable professional law.

family

On June 30, 1756 Christensen married Catharina Dorothea Ernst (born May 21, 1734 in Bad Oldesloe ; † January 6, 1802 in Kiel ) in Gelting . Her father Johann Berend Ernst worked in Bad Oldesloe as a brandy distiller and then as a miller in Groß Flottbek . Christensen's marriage had eight children. These included:

  • Caspar Diederich (1765-1831). He worked as a police master and judiciary in Kiel.
  • Nicolaus Heinrich (1768–1841) was an Oberdeichinspektor of both duchies.
  • Christian Friedrich (1786–1831) worked as an official inspector in Copenhagen
  • One daughter married Friedrich Christoph Jensen , professor at Kiel University.

Christensen's grandchildren included Ernst Friedrich Johann Christensen .
