Las Vueltas is a municipality in the Chalatenango department in El Salvador . It is located in the north of the country at an altitude of 826 m.
history
Las Vueltas was founded in 1765 by emigrants from Chalatenango .
Chalatenango department was heavily affected by the civil war following the assassination of Archbishop Óscar Romero in 1980. After the peace agreement of January 16, 1992, parish life has normalized through resettlement.
structure
The place consists of the six cantons of Conacaste, El Sicahuite, La Ceiba, La Laguna Seca, Los Naranjos and San José.
By law of May 12, 1902, the former municipality of La Ceiba was abolished and transformed into a canton in the municipality of Las Vueltas. Already on April 23, 1906, La Ceiba was spun off again together with the equally prosperous canton of La Laguna and part of the jurisdiction of Chalatenango. Since April 8, 1943, they have been part of the community again.
Attractions
There is a natural boiler with hot water ( El Volcán, El Conacaste y la Bola ) and occurrences of rock carvings ( petroglyphs ) of the Lenca .
Twin cities
There has been a partnership with Windsor in Canada since 1987 .
