Lashkar-e-Islam
Lashkar-e-Islam (لشكرِ اسلام, Army of Islam), also Lashkar-e-Islami or Lashkar-i-Islam (abbr .: LI or LeI ) is a militarily active organization in the territory of the Khyber Agency , in the tribal areas under federal administration , in northern Pakistan . The organization, which is also called Bara tehsil , was founded in 2004 by Mufti Munir Shakir . Today it is run by Mangal Bagh .
structure
Lashkar-e-Islam is part of the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). On April 7, 2008, Bagh announced that his organization has more than 180,000 volunteers in the Khyber Agency area.
Events
The organization sent threatening letters to industrialists, clashed with the Pakistani armed forces near Bara and appealed to the Khyber Agency public administration to close their offices.
On April 27, 2008 it was reported that "Lashkar-e-Islam" had changed its name to "Jaish-e-Islami". The reasons for the name change are not known. The report mentions that the organization is now based in the Bajaur Agency and is led by Wali Rehman . On March 2, 2012, according to the Pakistani government, fighters from Lashkar-e-Islam attacked an army base in the Tirah Valley in the Khyber Agency. At least ten soldiers and 23 insurgents died in the six-hour battle. On the same day, a suicide bomber blew himself up outside a mosque in the Tirah Valley, killing at least 20 people. His target were followers of Lashkar-e-Islam who had gathered for Friday prayers in the church.
