The Eichicht run-of-river power plant is part of the Saale Cascade . Together with the Hohenwarte I and II pumped storage power plants , it forms a joint power plant, as its storage basin , the Eichicht dam , is also the lower basin for the Hohenwarte I and II pumped storage power plants. The working water is discharged into the Saale river. Two sets of machines have a total output of around 3.4 megawatts .
history
Construction of the power plant began in 1942 and was commissioned in 1945.
technology
The Eichicht dam is a reservoir with a total storage space of 5.21 million m³. The reservoir target of the dam is at 244 m above sea level. NN . The water is directed over an average head of 9 m to two vertically aligned Kaplan turbines with a nominal flow rate of 15 m³ / s. The turbines drive three-phase synchronous machines with a generator voltage of 10 kV and an apparent power of 1.9 MVA each. The electricity generated by the generators is conducted to the Hohenwarte II pumped storage power station via a 10 kV submarine cable .
