Laura Omloop (born May 18, 1999 in Lier ) is a Belgian singer and yodeler .

Life

Omloop became known through her participation in the TV show Junior Eurosong 2009 organized by the VRT , the Belgian preliminary decision for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2009 . Her song Zo rand was performed in two versions according to the rules, the Classico version and the Yodelo version, which includes yodelling. Ultimately, Laura was able to live up to her role as a favorite and qualified for the final in Kiev with the Yodelo version . There she finished fourth with 113 points, which is Belgium's best result in the competition. She was only eight points behind the winner ( Ralf Mackenbach from the Netherlands ), but she got the highest score of twelve points four times, once more than Ralf.

In Flanders was Zo verliefd a big hit and reached third place in the singles charts. The album for the show Junior Eurosong 2009, on which her song is included in both versions, was also very successful . It was number one on the album charts for two weeks and reached platinum status.

In 2010 Laura released two more singles, Stapelgek op jou and Ik mis je zo Papa , followed a little later by her first album Verliefd , which reached number 7 in the Flemish album charts. It also achieved gold status in early 2011 . On November 5, 2011, their second album Wereld vol kleuren entered the Flemish album charts, which includes a duet with Stan Van Samang . Her third album Klaar voor! appeared at the end of 2012.
