The hamlet is located near Bad Reichenhall at the northeast end of the Saalaxis . The district of Kibling was first recorded in the official register of places from 1952, with the reference to name not yet officially awarded . At the state of the census on May 25, 1987, Kibling had 12 residents in 4 buildings with living space and 5 apartments.

Despite belonging to Schneizlreuth, Kibling can only be reached by motor vehicles from the Bad Reichenhall district of Kirchberg .

Dam on the axis of the Saal

From 1910 to 1913 a dam , the Saalach dam (also known as the Kiblinger barrier), was built to dam the Saalach to the Saalachsee . The reason for this was the construction of the Saalach power station to electrify the Freilassing – Berchtesgaden railway line . In 2004, a residual hydropower plant was built on the dam to supply the old river bed with water again.
