New Year's Eve Peuerbach

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The New Year's Eve Peuerbach (official name of the International Raiffeisen New Year's Eve Peuerbach ) is a people and street run that has been taking place in Peuerbach on New Year's Eve since 1981 . The organizer is the IGLA long life sports union. The length of the route is 5.1 km for the female runners and 6.8 km for the male and popular runners.

history

The event was initially held in Natternbach . The national running elite took part from the start. In 1986, through the mediation of Emil Zátopek , it was possible to sign runners from Czechoslovakia . In 1989 a separate race was set up for the top athletes. The following year, two runners from Kenya competed for the first time.

In 1997 the venue was relocated because the Natternbach population had threatened to file a lawsuit because of the salt spread . The neighboring town of Peuerbach prevailed out of ten applications.

route

The run is on a hilly 850 meter lap in the center of Peuerbach, with start and finish at the Raiffeisenbank , which acts as the title sponsor.
