Laura P. Spinadel
Laura Patricia Spinadel (born July 7, 1958 in Buenos Aires , Argentina ) is an architect from Argentina with Austrian citizenship. She achieved international fame through the master planning of the new WU Vienna campus , where she was also responsible for the architectural design of the lecture hall center and for the open space planning.
Life
Laura P. Spinadel is the daughter of Vera W. de Spinadel , an Argentine mathematician , and Erico Spinadel , an Austrian-Argentine wind energy engineer. She completed her architecture studies in Buenos Aires, which she graduated with a gold medal in 1982. From 1983–84 she was part of the urban development team at IBA Berlin, and from 1984 to 1986 she set up the Institute for Urban Design at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna. From 1986–91, Spinadel was Director of Foreign Relations and Cooperation at the University of Buenos Aires, during the same period she was Professor of Urban Planning Strategies at the Faculty of Architecture at the University of Buenos Aires. In 1986 she founded the BUSarchitektur office with Claudio J. Blazica (1956–2002). Spinadel has lived in Vienna since 1992, and in 2004 she founded BOA office for offensive aleatorics together with Hubert Marz and Sebastian Soukup . Spinadel has been running BUSarchitektur together with its partners Bernd Pflüger and Jean Pierre Bolívar since 2008.
Visiting professorships and lectures take her to Spain, Germany, Austria, Hungary, Italy, Poland, Israel, Columbia, Brazil, Argentina, Peru, Mexico, USA, India, Australia and South Korea.
