Laura del Río García (born February 5, 1982 in Madrid ) is a former Spanish football player on the position of a striker .
Career
In 2009 del Río was the top scorer in the USL W-League with 18 goals for Indiana FC . Shortly before the transfer deadline expired in summer 2009, she signed a contract with 1. FFC Frankfurt for the 2009/10 season. In her second Bundesliga appearance against 1. FC Saarbrücken , the striker scored the first goal for her new club twelve minutes after being substituted on. On January 25, 2010, the contract between Del Río and 1. FFC Frankfurt was terminated by mutual agreement. She then moved to the North American WPS to the Boston Breakers and moved from there to the 2011 season to the Philadelphia Independence franchise . After the dissolution of the WPS before the 2012 season, she moved to the English first division club Bristol Academy WFC . For the 2015 season she returned to the USA and signed a contract with NWSL participant Washington Spirit . After an initial eleven missions until the end of the 2015 season, del Río was no longer used in the following season due to injury and was released in October 2016. Then she returned to her homeland and initially played for the second division CD Tacón . In the summer of 2017 Laura del Río signed for Madrid CFF with whom she played two more seasons in the Spanish first division before ending her playing career.
National team
In the U-19 national team, the striker scored 45 goals in just 25 games, seven of them in the U-18 European Championship in 2000, where she was the top scorer. In the senior national team , she has scored 40 goals in 39 appearances so far.
