Laurel Holloman

Laurel Holloman (born May 23, 1971 in Chapel Hill , North Carolina ) is an American actress and painter .

Life

Holloman started acting as a teenager. After a year in college, she went to Chicago and attended the Piven Theater Workshop. She then studied acting in London at the British American Dramatic Academy. In 1994 she went to New York City and played theater, including on Broadway in The Heart is a Lonely Hunter .

In 1995 she made her film debut in the film The Incredibly True Adventure of Two Girls in Love . This was followed by a few guest appearances in television series, including Angel and Without a Trace , as well as film roles in Boogie Nights (1997), Tumbleweeds (1999) and Alone (2002).

She played her best-known role from 2004 to 2009 in the US television series The L Word - When Women Love Women as Tina Kennard at the side of Jennifer Beals . In 2004 she received the Satellite Award for this role . Since she was pregnant while filming the second season, her pregnancy was built into the plot. Their daughter was born on November 4, 2004.

Laurel Holloman married Paul Macherey with the set design from 2002 to 2012 and lived with him, their daughter and an adopted daughter in Los Angeles.

Laurel Holloman has auctioned a series of paintings for the Maasai Wilderness Conservation Fund. With the sale of her pictures, she also supports other aid organizations such as Doctors Without Borders and the Hart Foundation.
