Laurence Modaine-Cessac (born December 28, 1964 in Douai ) is a former French foil fencer .

Laurence Modaine-Cessac took part in four Olympic Games . At the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, she lost together with Véronique Brouquier , Brigitte Latrille-Gaudin , Anne Meygret and Pascale Trinquet after two opening wins in the semi-finals to Romania , but secured the bronze medal against the Italian team in the final battle. She finished the individual competition in sixth place after a 7: 9 quarter-final defeat against Cornelia Hanisch . In 1988 in Seoul , however, she only reached 33rd place in the individual and seventh place with the team. Both at the 1992 Games in Barcelona and the 1996 Games in Atlanta , she narrowly missed winning a medal in singles. In 1992 she lost first in the semi-finals to Wang Huifeng and finally in the battle for bronze Tatyana Sadovskaya . In 1996 she was left behind in the semi-finals when she lost to Valentina Vezzali . Against Giovanna Trillini , she lost the battle for bronze again. Both times, 1992 and 1996, Modaine-Cessac finished the team competition in fifth place. She won bronze singles at the World Championships in Athens in 1994 .
