Laurent Chu Van Minh (born December 27, 1943 in Nam Định , Vietnam ) is a Vietnamese clergyman and emeritus Roman Catholic auxiliary bishop for the Archdiocese of Hanoi .

Life

Laurent Chu Van Minh studied philosophy and Catholic theology in Nam Định (1960–1967) and Hà Nôi (1992–1994). He then worked for a long time as a hairdresser , while at the same time working as a catechist in his home parish because the government did not give him permission to ordain priests .

He was ordained a priest on June 10, 1994 at the age of 51. After that he was first vicar in Nam Định (1994-1995). In 1995 he became a postgraduate degree in the subject dogmatic in Rome exempted, where he in 2000 with a dissertation on Christian-Buddhist dialogue , entitled Dialogue between Catholics and Buddhists in the light of the Church's teaching on interreligious dialogue doctorate was.
