Laurent Giammartini (born February 2, 1967 in Paris ) is a French wheelchair tennis player .
Career
Laurent Giammartini started wheelchair tennis at the age of 17 and has been in the paraplegic class ever since . He participated in four Paralympic Games in his career .
In 1988 he was a participant when wheelchair tennis was still a demonstration sport. He won the individual competition with a win against Mick Connell . At the first official event in 1992 , he won the bronze medal in singles and the silver medal in doubles alongside Thierry Caillier . In 1996 he was defeated in the singles match for bronze against David Hall and in doubles he was only fourth with Abde Naili . In his last games in 2000 , he reached the quarter-finals.
At the Wheelchair Tennis Masters he won the individual title in 1995. In addition, he was in the final again in 1996 and 1998. In the world rankings, he was in first place in both singles and doubles. He succeeded in singles for the first time on January 26, 1993, and in doubles on July 28, 1998.
