Laurent Négro (entrepreneur)

Laurent Négro (* 1929 in Gourdon ; † December 28, 1996 in Gourdon) was a French entrepreneur . The Bibliothèque de France names 23 December 1926 as the date of birth.

Laurent Négro was the son of a farming family from Piedmont . At the age of 17 he joined the Resistance . During a trip to the USA in 1954, he discovered the temporary employment industry . Returning to France, he founded the company Bureau International de Secrétariat ( BIS ) in 1955 , which later was called Bureau Industries Services . The company became a pioneer in temporary employment in France. After eight months she employed 80 temporary work secretaries. In 1980 it had more than 2,000 employees. The company diversified into other business areas such as banking , debt collection , education and even the lobster trade . In total, Laurent Négro founded around 70 companies. In 1996, the year he died, the company, which is now listed on the stock exchange, recorded a turnover of 9.1 billion francs (around 1.4 billion euros). The family held 60% of the shares.

After Laurent Négro's death, the family sold their shares. The company merged with competitors ELAN and Vedior .

Laurent Négro was a lover of antiques and old weapons, but also of naive art . In 1972 Laurent Négro bought the Gourdon Castle, where he was born and where his mother had worked as a cook. He put his collections there.
