Laurynas Kasčiūnas

Laurynas Kasčiūnas (born January 8, 1982 in Vilnius - Lazdynai ) is a Lithuanian conservative politician and political scientist .

Life

After graduating from high school in 1970 at the "Ąžuolyno" Middle School in Vilnius, he completed a bachelor's degree from 2000 to 2004 and a master’s degree in political science at the Vilniaus universitetas from 2004 to 2006 . In 2006 he became a doctoral candidate and on April 20, 2012 received his doctorate on the subject of "Effect of internal EU integration on external Europeanization : Case study Ukraine and Russia " (lit. " ES vidinės integracijos poveikis išorinei europeizacijai: Ukrainos ir Rusijos atvejų analizė "). He was editor of the foreign news for the magazine " Veidas ".

From 2004 he worked in various research institutions. From 2007 he taught at the Institute of Political Science at the Vilniaus universitetas. His courses were: Lithuanian Foreign Policy and Diplomacy , US Studies, West European Studies, and EU External Relations.

From 2009 he was an advisor to the President of Parliament Irena Degutienė . From 2012 he headed the Center for Studies in Eastern Europe . On October 23, 2016 he became the Seimas as TS-LKD -Kandidat selected .

He is a member of the Tėvynės sąjunga-Lietuvos krikščionys demokratai .

He has been married since he was a student. With his wife Monika he has the sons Mantas and Rapolas, the daughters Gerda and Liepa.
