The Lautenschlägerbrunnen in Stuttgart-Bad Cannstatt

The Lautenschlägerbrunnen (wrongly also called Lautenschlagerbrunnen) is a fountain in the Kursaal facilities in Stuttgart-Bad Cannstatt and was created in 1934 by the sculptor Jakob Clement . Its water is a state-approved medicinal water .

Appearance

The Lautenschlägerbrunnen, created by Jakob Clement in 1934, is located on Königsplatz in a park across from the Kursaal in Stuttgart-Bad Cannstatt. It shows a naked boy sitting on a hemisphere and playing on a lute . The hemisphere with the boy rests on an octagonal pedestal from which the water flows from eight pipes into an octagonal trough .

The fountain takes its name from the boy shown with the lute and not from the Lord Mayor of Stuttgart, Karl Lautenschlager , who had been forced into retirement by the National Socialists in 1933 (one year before the fountain was built) . The fountain is also called "The silent landlord" by the Cannstatters. It is reminiscent of the pea fountain , which also shows a naked, little boy and is also located in Stuttgart-Bad Cannstatt.

Medicinal water

The Lautenschlägerbrunnen is fed with water from the Wilhelmsbrunnen, which rises in the courtyard of the nearby Großer Kursaal. The state-approved healing water is a so-called sodium-calcium-chloride-sulfate-hydrogen carbonate acid . According to an analysis of the Chemical Institute of the City of Stuttgart on November 24, 1999, one liter of the water contains 1,300 milligrams of carbon dioxide , 1,120 mg of hydrogen carbonate , 997 mg of sulfate , 963 mg of chloride , 696 mg of sodium , 589 mg of calcium , and 88.2 mg to be displayed on the well Magnesium and 39.4 mg potassium and smaller amounts of other substances.

In 1987 the Lautenschläger fountain was completely renovated. Maintenance and operation are financed by the city of Stuttgart, the Stuttgart Brünnele Foundation and so-called fountain sponsors. It is in operation all year round.
