Wash house in Coupvray

The Lavoir des médisances (French lavoir for wash house and médisances for bad repute ) in Coupvray , a French commune in the Seine-et-Marne department in the Île-de-France region , was rebuilt in 1933.

The wash house in the upper part of the village consists of an open wooden structure that supports the hipped roof .

The wash house is supplied with water from a well as well as water from the Marne . The original wash house was built in a concrete house in the 1850s. In 1933 it was rebuilt identically based on a postcard. A former mound of earth north of the wash house, which was used to protect the wash house, was leveled in the 1970s.
