Lawrence Baker
Lawrence Adams Baker senior (born June 20, 1890 in Lowdensville , South Carolina , † October 15, 1980 in East Hampton , New York ) was an American tennis player .
In 1916 he married Margorie Russ (1893–1964). From the marriage came Lawrence Adams Baker junior, who looked after him until his father's death.
Baker won the doubles title of the National Senior Grass Court in 1937. In 1953, he was team captain of the United States Davis Cup team . In the final of the Davis Cup in 1953 , his team was defeated by the Australians with 2: 3 sets. He founded the National Tennis Foundation .
In 1975, Baker was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame .
