Lawrence Dundas, 3rd Marquess of Zetland
Lawrence Aldred Mervyn Dundas, 3rd Marquess of Zetland (born November 12, 1908 - October 5, 1989 ), was a British peer . From 1929 to 1971 he was known by the courtesy title of Earl of Ronaldshay .
He was the eldest son of Lawrence Dundas, 2nd Marquess of Zetland and Cicely Archdale. He was at the Harrow School educated and graduated in 1930 his studies at Trinity College of Cambridge University as a Bachelor of Arts (BA) from. From 1930 to 1931 he was aide de camp of the Viceroy of India . He fought in World War II and served with the rank of major with the Yorkshire Hussars Yeomanry . In 1945 he was awarded the Efficiency Decoration (ED). After the war, he competed as a tennis player at the Wimbledon Championships . When his father died on February 6, 1961, he inherited his title of nobility and the associated seat in the House of Lords . In 1965 he was Deputy Lieutenant (DL) of the North Riding of Yorkshire . From 1974 to 1989 he was Vice Chairman of the RK Dundas Group.
He married Katherine Mary Penelope Pike (1914-2003) on December 2, 1936. He had four children with her:
- Lawrence Mark Dundas, 4th Marquess of Zetland (born 1937)
- Serena Jane Dundas (1940-2012)
- David Paul Nicholas Dundas (* 1945)
- Richard Bruce Dundas (* 1951)
He died on October 5, 1989 at the age of eighty. His eldest son inherited his title of nobility.
