reception

The novel To be Forgiven was received positively by critics in Germany:

“Osborne creates a scene of vulgarly displayed wealth that seems to have fallen out of time and which is precisely why it is all the more disturbing. He precisely dissects the relationships between his protagonists, revealing their secret desires and feelings with bite and irony. [...] An outstanding novel, excitingly told, with a sophisticated tone. "

“... a glaring parable on the arrogance of the West - a feverish lesson about guilt and atonement. Cinematic and wonderfully old-fashioned at the same time. "
