Lawrence Turman
Lawrence Turman (born November 28, 1926 in Los Angeles , California ) is an American film and television producer.
Life
Turman graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles with a degree in liberal arts. After a two-year service in the United States Navy , he initially worked for his father's company for a few years.
In 1961, Turman and Stuart Millar produced his first feature film, Chief Physician Dr. Pearson . More than 40 other film and television productions followed by the 2000s. Since 1974 he has led the production company The Turman Foster Company together with David Foster for around two decades . In 1996 Turman founded the production company The Turman-Morrissey Company with John Morrissey. This resulted in films such as Booty Call - One-Night-Stand with Obstacles (1997) and American History X (1998), in which Turman was involved as an executive producer.
Since 1991, Turman has led the Peter Stark Producing Program at the USC School of Cinematic Arts at the University of Southern California. He is married and has several children. In 2005 he published the book So You Want To Be a Producer .
In 1971 he directed his first feature film, The Marriage of a Young Stockbroker , followed by his second film as a director in 1983, Marriage with ulterior motives . There were no further directorial work.
He was nominated for an Oscar in the category of best film in 1968 for the production of the film The Graduation Examination .
