Caveman ( German: Höhlenmensch), from 1981, is an American comedy film by director Carl Gottlieb about the adventures of the Stone Age man Atouk, played by ex- Beatle Ringo Starr .
Simply made special effects, like rubber dinosaurs, underline the junkie-like comedy of the film, which became a cult film not only because of its main actor Ringo Starr. With one exception, the film is spoken exclusively in an artificial language from the Stone Age, but is nevertheless understandable for everyone. Caveman was shot in the same year as the serious film In The Beginning Was Fire .
action
The caveman Atouk falls in love with the provocative Lana, the wife of his clan chief Tonda. The jealous Tonda banishes Atouk from the clan. In the wilderness he meets the simple-minded Lar and the pretty Tala. Together they endure various adventures and battles against dinosaurs. Atouk discovers the benefits of walking upright and the effects of certain plants as sleep aids. Together with his new companions, he comes across the uses of fire and also invents music.
