Lawrence Weiskrantz

Lawrence Weiskrantz (March 28, 1926 - January 27, 2018 ) was a British psychologist .

Lawrence Weiskrantz received his B.Sc. in Oxford and in 1953 the Ph.D. at Harvard University . He taught 11 years at Cambridge University and was 1967 to 1993 professor of psychology at Magdalen College of the University of Oxford . He was Professor Emeritus at Baylor University in Waco , Texas . Weiskrantz was best known for his discovery of blind vision ( Blindsight , see cortical blindness ).

In 1980 he was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society . He was a member of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States and the Academia Europaea .
