León Abadías y Santolaria

León Abadías y Santolaria (also León Abadías de Santolarios ; * 1836 in Huesca , † 1894 in Córdoba ) was a Spanish painter .

Abadías y Santolaria trained with the Spanish painters Federico Madrazo , Carlos Mújica and Bernardino Montañés . From 1866 he gave drawing lessons for three years at the Instituto de segunda enseñanza in his hometown. He later taught in Cordoba. He painted genre pictures from Aragon , as well as landscapes and seascapes. He also made paintings depicting hunting scenes and designed portraits. In Saragossa he restored several pictures of the Basílica del Pilar and in Huesca he decorated the town hall. In 1868 he won the bronze medal at the Aragonese exhibition. He also emerged as an author; some of his most important literary works can be found in La Revista Popular de Barcelona (1877–89). He belonged to the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando .
