The Le Buffet Restaurant & Café Gesellschaft mbH is a company of Karstadt Warenhaus GmbH , which operates 90 restaurants nationwide in the field of commercial catering. The central management of the operations is managed by LeBuffet GmbH, based in the Karstadt headquarters in Essen .
Corporate structure
The company is present on the retail and catering market with two brands: LeBuffet and RestaurantCafé . The latter describes a classic department store catering concept that is operated within the Karstadt department stores. The Fresh Flow concept, which was first implemented in Karstadt Freiburg in 2001 under the brand name LeBuffet, stands out from department store catering in the traditional sense. The ingredients are presented in the LeBuffet restaurant as if on a market, selected by the guest and freshly prepared before his eyes. The guest can choose between the Far Eastern cuisine, fish and meat specialties from the grill and Italian pasta. There are also salad and antipasti variations as well as various dessert specialties such as homemade ice cream and cakes.
The company presents itself with the fresh flow concept at a total of 41 locations. The larger restaurants that operate under the LeBuffet company include the Wintergarten restaurant in KaDeWe and the restaurant in the Alsterhaus .
In 2005, the company was ranked 7th among the largest system catering companies in Germany. In 2004 the company achieved a turnover of 224.6 million euros with a total of 182 companies, in 2005 with 169 companies it achieved 208.4 million euros.
The restaurants have been successively renamed Karstadt Restaurant since 2016. Exceptions to this are the restaurants in KaDeWe, the Alsterhaus and in Oberpollinger. This is because these department stores are organized in their own company, the KaDeWe Group.
The merger of Karstadt and Galeria Kaufhof to form Galeria Karstadt Kaufhof on November 30, 2018 will also lead to the merger of the system restaurants of the respective companies. Le Buffet (Karstadt) and Dinea (Galeria Kaufhof) are merged into a single concept.
