Jean Picart Le Doux (born January 31, 1902 in Paris , † May 7, 1982 in Venice ) was a French artist who was particularly active in the areas of book illustration and commercial graphics as well as painting and image knitting .

Life

Jean Picart Le Doux was a son of the painter Charles Picart Le Doux (1881-1959). After his studies he was mainly active as an illustrator and book designer for Paris publishers. Since the 1940s he worked as a weaver with Jean Lurçat and Marc Saint-Saëns on the renewal of the tapestry art of Aubusson . With them he founded the "Association des Peintres-Cartonniers de Tapisserie". In 1952 he became the first president of the Alliance Graphique Internationale, which he also co-founded .
