action

The fake priest Sacramento, his brother Big Jim and their father Tequila clash with a band of bandits when a train robbed a gold transport. The spoil, which they believe is government money, falls into their hands - but in fact it was intended for farmers in the La Paz City area who are now threatened with eviction from their land. The bandits the three adventurers had to deal with work for the power-hungry banker of the nearby town, Cray, who wants to control these lands and now has the right to do so. The money changes hands several times. When Sacramento notices that the farmers are exclusively female - the pretty women chased away their husbands because they didn't have the courage to crack down on the Cray people - he wants to help them against all odds; He brings Jim to his side. Tequila, however, flees with the prey; and Sacramento and Jim have to fight Cray's people. They provide the village with numerous dynamite stashes. At the end of the dispute, the whole place is destroyed by a series of explosions. But Gray and his people are defeated; the land belongs to the farmers again. The three heroes ride away without realizing that one of the explosions has exposed an oil loader.

criticism

Fotogramas.es saw in the "obvious story without surprises only the mere pretext to get as many brawls as possible" and subsumed: no cause for joy. Also AGCM Cinematografiche judged hard, the illogical, abrupt action and poverty of ideas made out of this funny film meant a bad thing. They also criticized the vulgarity of the dialogue and the below-average appearance.

Remarks

The explosions at the end of the film were planned in order to cost-effectively demolish the scenery of the Balcázar productions after the shooting of this last western (in 1972). They were then incorporated as part of the plot.

Dream Bags interpret the film song Sundown Son .

The Italian title of the film is I bandoleros della dodicesima ora ; First performance was on December 23, 1973; it only started on May 13, 1974 in Barcelona. The international title is Now They Call Him Sacramento .
