Leandro Hernán Bottasso (born April 23, 1986 in Bell Ville ) is an Argentine cyclist who primarily competes in races on the track . With 21 national titles, he is one of the most successful track cyclists in the country ( as of 2019 ).

Athletic career

Leandro Bottasso won his first national title in the youth class, his first national championship title, in the time trial and in the sprint . In the following years he won other Argentine titles in various age groups in the short-term disciplines.

In 2006 Bottasso was Pan American Champion in Keirin , in 2007 and 2011 he won bronze in the same discipline at the Pan American Games. In 2008 and 2009, he did not contest any railroad competitions, as he was a member of the Colavita / Sutter Home-Cooking Light road race in the USA during those years . 2011

In 2015 Bottasso won his 15th national title, overtaking the previous record holder Juan Esteban Curuchet . Up to and including 2018, there were a total of 21 Argentine championship titles. In 2014 and 2018, he finished third in the Keirin at the South American Games .

Honors

In 2005 and 2006 Bottasso was named "Sportsman of the Year" for the Province of Cordoba .
