Lech Majewski (born June 30, 1952 in Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski ) is a Polish lieutenant general a. D. and was the commander of the Polish Air Force from 2010 to 2015 .

Life

From 1972 to 1976 he was an officer candidate at the Officer College of the Polish Air Force ( Wyższa Szkoła Oficerska Sił Powietrznych ) in Dęblin . Then Lech Majewski was until 1983 as a pilot and navigator with the 21st Air Force Regiment for tactical reconnaissance in Powidz (Greater Poland Voivodeship). 1983 to 1986 he studied at the Soviet Military Academy of the Air Force "JA Gagarin" . He then served as the commander of a unit of the 32nd Air Force Regiment for tactical reconnaissance. In 1988 he became the regiment's deputy commander. In 1990 Majewski moved to Mińsk Mazowiecki as commander of the 1st Air Combat Squadron "Warszawa" . From 1993 to 1994 he studied at the Academy of National Defense ( Akademia Obrony Narodowej ) and then became deputy chief of the 1st Corps of the Air Force. In 1995 he became the commander of the 3rd Air Defense Corps. From 1998 to 1999 he was deputy commander of the Air Force and Air Defense. Lech Majewski was then commander of the 3rd Air Defense Corps until 2003. He served as the commander of the operations center of the Polish Air Force from 2003 to 2004. In 2004 he studied at the National Defense University in Washington, DC On his return he became an assistant at the General Staff of the Polish Air Force. On May 20, 2010 he was appointed Commander of the Air Force of Poland as the successor to the late Andrzej Błasik .

In 2015 he retired.
