lechner – lechner – schallhammer is the joint architecture office of the architects Horst Lechner , Christine Lechner and Johannes Schallhammer in Salzburg , Austria .
history
The office was founded in 1987 by Christine and Horst Lechner under the name Lechner & Lechner . In addition to buildings in Austria, the team realized projects in South Korea from 1996 to 1997 . Johannes Schallhammer has been part of the team since 2000. Lechner - Lechner - Schalhammer implemented projects in Germany and, from 2006 to 2009, hotel projects in Dubai and Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates . In addition to classic architecture, the Salzburg office also works in the field of interior design, urban planning and product design.
An important project is the Lechner residential and studio house, which Horst and Christine Lechner jointly planned, built and inhabited, in which the architectural office is located. In 2010 the building won the Salzburg State Architecture Prize . The amoprh- shaped living sculpture in Salzburg's Leopoldskron district , which is still under construction, has generated particularly strong media interest and controversial discussions in front of the construction site . The experimental building in an exposed location, called “Sculpture in the Landscape” by the architects - “UFO House” by critics - has been accused of breaking the conventional image of houses. According to a survey carried out by the opinion research institute IMAS after the unveiling of the building, the unusual shape divided passers-by, and for the most part a great perplexity was noticeable in the answers.

- 1995 Korea Institute of Industrial Design: Certificate of Appreciation of the international cooperation project for development of industrial design and packaging technique.
- 1998 Architecture Prize 2001 from the Reiners Foundation, The Best Single Family Homes - Germany Austria Switzerland
