The Lecknertal is a mainly agriculturally used valley in the Allgäu pre-Alps west of the Iller . The lower part of the valley is in Hittisau in Austria , while the upper part is in the municipality of Oberstaufen in Germany .
geography
The Lecknertal extends over a length of 9 km from Hittisau in an easterly direction to the Scheidwangpass , where the Gunzesriedtal connects. In the north it is bounded by the western part of the Nagelfluhkette , while in the south there is the comparatively gentle ridge of Koppachstein , Samstenberg and Stillberg .
The Leckner Ach flows through the valley. In the Austrian part, near the border, lies the Leckner See . On the German side, on the Alpe Lache, there is still a small moor lake.
use
During the summer months, the valley is used for livestock farming in around 50 Alps . Due to the high location and the harsh climate, however, year-round cultivation is not possible. This makes the Lecknertal a popular hiking destination also - and above all - in winter and valued for its tranquility and seclusion. A prepared winter hiking trail leads from Hittisau to the Leckner See.
The European long-distance hiking trails E4 and E5 lead through the Lecknertal.
The Gunzesriedtal and the Lecknertal can be crossed on a partly asphalted and partly graveled road by mountain bike.
