Lee "Leenock" Dong-nyoung (born April 1, 1995 ) is a professional South Korean e-athlete in the computer game StarCraft 2 . Lee Dong-nyoung is one of the youngest participants in the GSL Code S and one of the youngest StarCraft 2 players to achieve great success.
Career
In Korea, Leenock appeared several times at the beginning of 2011, but could not record any major tournament victories, but only surprisingly defeated a few well-known pro players.
It was a big surprise for most of the esports scene when Leenock suddenly rose from the open brackets at the 2011 MLG National Championship in Providence and defeated more and more of the invited and well-known players. The surprise of the e-sports fans was so great that Lee Dong-nyoung alias Leenock was even a worldwide Twitter trend that evening.
Ultimately, Leenock was even able to play his way into the final, where he first defeated DongRaeGu in an extended series (he had already lost to DongRaeGu once and took this negative score into the semi-final or final of the Loser Brackets) and then with the same disadvantage went into the game against NaNiwa . But even NaNiwa could not do anything against the young Leenock that day, who played himself for a 50,000 US dollar prize money and sudden worldwide attention in the esports scene. In the interview that followed, comparisons were even made with the legendary StarCraft broodwar player Flash .
This MLG victory brought Leenock back to Code S. But in Korea the young player was not able to fully assert himself, although he is a regular participant in the highest league (GSL Code S). On American soil, however, Leenock still seems to be very outstanding and so he was able to record his second MLG victory in the summer of 2012.
