Lee Seung-bae

Lee Seung-bae (born May 10, 1971 ) is a retired South Korean boxer . Lee was Asian Champion in 1992 and 1995, winner of the 1994 Asian Games , bronze medalist at the 1992 Olympic Games, and silver medalist at the 1998 Asian Games and 1996 Olympic Games .

Career

In 1992 Lee won the Middleweight (-75 kg) Asian Championships, winning the final against Altangereb Bandi, Mongolia . In the same year he started at the Olympic Games and reached the semi-finals after victories over Michal Franek , Czechoslovakia (6: 2), Ricardo Araneda, Chile (12: 8), and Albert Papilaya, Indonesia (15: 3) against Ariel Hernández , Cuba (14-1), lost and thus won the Olympic silver medal.

In 1994 Lee won the Asian Games with a final victory over Arkadiy Topayev, Kazakhstan (10: 7). At the Asian Championships in 1995 Lee won the gold medal in the light heavyweight division (-81 kg), beating in the final Vassiliy Jirov , Kazakhstan (15: 2). The following year he took part in the Olympic Games and after victories over Sam Leuji, Zambia (14: 0), Freddy Rojas, Cuba (13: 9), Stipe Drviš , Croatia (14:11), Thomas Ulrich , Germany ( 12: 8), the final which he lost to Vasily Schirow , Kazakhstan (17: 4), and thus won the Olympic silver medal.

In 1998 Lee started at the Asian Games and also reached the final here, which he lost to Sergey Mixaylov , Uzbekistan (9: 5).
