Legacy [ ˈlɛgəsi ] is a German-language music magazine with an editorial office in Saarbrücken that has been published every two months since 1999. As the subtitle "The Voice from the Dark Side" suggests, the "Legacy" is primarily dedicated to the dark side of hard music. Originally the magazine only specialized in black and death metal . In the meantime, the spectrum has been expanded to include heavy metal , pagan metal , thrash metal , grindcore , metalcore , gothic metal and sometimes also electro .

The "Legacy" is sold in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Europe-wide in all international press shops. A CD is enclosed with the booklet, which, in addition to titles by well-known artists, mostly also contains in- house productions by regionally known bands. The booklet also contains a multimedia section, which is mainly concerned with films and video games.

Occasionally special issues such as the Paganfire appear , of which two issues exist so far, which appeared in April 2007 and January 2009 respectively.

On the occasion of the tenth anniversary , the Legacy Festival took place in May 2009 on the former airfield in Dessau .
