Erwin Oehme
Ernst Erwin Oehme (born September 18, 1831 in Dresden , † October 10, 1907 in Blasewitz ) was a German painter .
Life
Oehme was the son and student of the landscape painter Ernst Ferdinand Oehme . He attended the Dresden Art Academy and became an honorary member in 1864. He then worked for a short time under Ludwig Richter and then continued his education on study trips to Germany, Switzerland, England and France.
He painted in oils and watercolors, first landscapes, then architecture, genre paintings and portraits. He also made some decorations for the Dresden court theater ; he also painted a series of wallpapers in watercolors, in which he effectively imitated old tapestries. On the Albrechtsburg in Meißen he created the mural Altenburger Prinzenraub .
His conception is poetic, but sometimes touches on the sweet and adorable.
The Dresden Galerie Neue Meister owns a work by Oehme in Quarry in Saxon Switzerland (1860). There was also an album by Queen Carola of Saxony with views from Compiègne .
Oehme died in Blasewitz in 1907. His grave is in the Johannisfriedhof .
