The Legend is a steel Norwegian brig . The ship "disappeared" twice and was later found abandoned.

history

The ship was launched in 1915 as a freighter / fishing ship. During the First World War , it was reported missing in the English Channel in 1917 . In 1925 a fisherman from Scheveningen found it abandoned in the Congo River . He brought the current Legend back to the Netherlands . A drive engine was installed for the first time in 1928 . From 1926 to 1940 she sailed as a freighter in the North Sea. During the Second World War she smuggled weapons for the Dutch resistance against the National Socialists . In 1944 she was reported missing again. In 1947 she reappeared in Newfoundland. There was no trace of the crew. It is also not clear what the ship was used for over the past three years. After it was brought back to the Netherlands, it was used again as a cargo ship. In 1955 it was sold to Norway and used there for years in the North Sea for trips to Greenland and Iceland . Eventually it was dismantled to the sailor. The sailor is moored in the port of Oslo and can be viewed. It also serves as a charter ship. The Legend has participated in Sail Training Association races.
