Lehavoth is an Israeli brutal death metal and grindcore band from Tel Aviv-Jaffa that has been active intermittently since 1995.

history

The band was founded in 1995 and consisted of the singer Yuval "Molech" Talmor, the guitarists Gal "Pixel" Cohen and Nir "Ach Shelo" Gutraiman, the bassist Haim "Evil Haim" Benyamini and the drummer Nir Doliner. In an early stage of the group's development, it also included keyboardist EVOX. In 1999 the band broke up, whereupon Talmor and Pixel revived the group a little later without the other members. In 1999 the first demo appeared under the name Brit Ha'Orvim . This was followed by a longer break until 2000 because the musicians had to devote themselves to military service . Another demo followed in 2001 with Iconoclastic . Benyamini and Gutraiman also played for Nail Within , Gutraiman also played for Salem . Gutraiman joined the band in 2002. After the demo was released, the group played with Ancient Rites in Tel Aviv. In 2003 the band took part in a split release through Spew Records , the other participants of which were the groups Suture and Leukorrhea . In the same year, Lehavoth's debut album was released under the name Hatred Shaped Man . The recordings for this had taken place in the Swedish Soundlab Studios with the producer Mieszko Talarczyk , the release took place on the Dutch label Fadeless Records . In 2003 the group was represented at the Fuck the Commerce festival . In addition to this appearance in Germany , the band also held other appearances in Europe after the album was released. In April 2004, Talmor split from the group and was replaced by Ariel "Conan" Ron. In November, Dark Funeral played their first gig in Tel Aviv, with Lehavoth as the opening act. In the same year the group could also be seen in Tel Aviv at the Metalist Festival . The band was booked for the same festival the following year. Although there was no official disbandment notice, the band had been inactive since 2005 and did not resume activity until 2014. She played her first appearance since 2005 on Halloween 2016. In the same year the EP Grinder was released .

style

Joel McIver named Lehavoth in his book Extreme Metal II as Israel's first successful black metal band. Frank Stöver from voicesfromthedarkside.de noticed that Lehavoth was initially a black metal band. On Hatred Shaped Man , however, a mixture of Brutal Death Metal and Grindcore can be heard. The band does not focus mainly on speed, but on groove and brutality. On the album one could make out Voivod , Swedish Death Metal and Grindcore as well as American Brutal Death Metal as influences.
