Nail Within was an Israeli melodic death metal band from Tel Aviv-Jaffa , which was founded in 2001 under the name Emblaze and disbanded around 2003. In 2007 the group was briefly active again.

history

The band was formed in 2001 from the decay of the two groups Betrayer and Azazel and consisted of guitarist Alex Schuster, bassist "Evil Haim" Binyamini and drummer Miko. The trio initially called themselves Emblaze, before Nir Nakav joined as the new drummer. At that time, the line-up consisted of Schuster and Binyamini, singer Yishai Swearts and guitarist Matan Cohen-Grumi, who joined the band in 2002. The band then went to Spiderhouse Studios in Germany to record their self-titled debut album with producer Harris Johns . Guest singers include Ze'ev Tananboim from Salem , Robert Gonnella from Assassin , Mille Petrozza and Tomas Lindberg . Harris Johns is also represented as a guest musician. The band had met Lindberg two years earlier when he was in Israel with Betrayer. The group had also known Petrozza two years since Swearts interviewed him for the Israeli Metal Hammer . Lindberg and Petrozza were also friends. The sound carrier was released in March 2003 on Listenable Records . Nir Nakav created a music video for the song Dirty Colored Knife , in which Lindberg and Petrozza can also be seen. In the same month the singer Swearts left the line-up, whereupon Avital Tamir as a replacement and the bassist Rotem Inbar (both of whom worked for Betzefer ) were added as new members. A short time later it was dissolved. In 2007 the band got back together for a short time and played a gig in Tel Aviv-Jaffa on November 23rd, with Tomas Lindberg as a guest singer.

style

Petra Schurer from Metal Hammer wrote in her review of the album that the electric guitars are sometimes melodic, sometimes " thrashy ". The group makes use of breaks in their songs . Songs like Mental Coffin are well crafted, but in the end they are just pale, contourless Melodic Death Metal. Frank Stöver from voicesfromthedarkside.de also reviewed the album and noted that Swearts' vocals sound like a mix of guest musicians. Musically, the group reminds a little of straight, aggressive At the Gates , with traces of classic Thrash Metal from the 1980s being audible.
