Lehmener Klosterberg

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Lehmener Klosterberg is the largest of the four vineyards in Lehmen on the Untermosel (Terrassenmosel). The name is reminiscent of a former monastery property (probably Simeon Abbey, Trier , which had been wealthy in Lehmen since 1052). It is a field-adjusted location on loamy slate and greywacke weathered soil (75% steep, 25% sloping). The total area is around ten hectares and is fully cultivated, almost three hectares of which have been organic since 1989.

The slope is up to 70% in the east-south-south-east direction (80 to 180  m above sea  level ).

Grape varieties are Riesling , Müller-Thurgau , Pinot Blanc , Pinot Gris , Chardonnay , Solaris , Phoenix , Dornfelder , Pinot Noir , Regent and Rondo .
