action

Rudi Pichler works as a successful head chef in a Salzburg toque restaurant. His passion for cooking unexpectedly takes him on an extraordinary journey. It is a journey back in time to Pongau in 1945, 14 days after the German Wehrmacht surrendered . The small Windhager farming family is struggling to survive. Rudi accompanies mother Elisabeth and her children in their various measures to get food on the table. As a result, he not only gets to know forgotten culinary arts, but also finds new inspiration for his modern kitchen. He develops a unique menu that combines traditional roots with modern culinary art.

The film shows what it feels like to bravely step forward in a hopeless time and step by step towards a new future and what role food plays in it. It is intended to provide instructive, humorous and exciting insights into the times at that time in comparison with the current situation, into the way of life and the importance of regionally produced foods.

production

The shooting took place from the end of October to the middle of November 2017. The shooting took place mainly in Pongau in the Salzburger Land . Because the film preserves and revives the Pongau identity and traditions of the region and presents regional food producers, it was supported by the leader region Lebens.Wert.Pongau, as well as by the sponsors Raiffeisenbank Salzburg, Lerchenmühle Wieser GmbH, Itzlingers Biobäckerei GmbH and by the supporters Kunsthilfe Salzburg, Salzburg Chamber of Commerce, Salzburg Chamber of Agriculture and Salzburg Agricultural Marketing.

The film was produced by Doppelkopf-Studio in cooperation with 2010 Entertainment. The producers were responsible for the sets, Claudia Trentini for the costume design and Dominik Wallner for the film music.
