Leibsch dam

Leibsch-Damm ( Lower Sorbian Lubuš-Nasyp ) is a municipality part of the Leibsch district in Brandenburg, which belongs to the Unterspreewald municipality .

The small town is located in the Spreewald biosphere reserve north of Leibsch. The federal highway 179 and the Gurkenradweg run through it .

history

Damm emerged from a dairy farm operated here . The name of the place goes back to the small brook Rietze , which runs between Köthener See and Wasserburger Spree. The name Dahme was also common for this stream , a name that goes back to pre-Slavic times. The place Damm was mentioned in 1745 as Neue Dame , 1782 as Vorw. Dam , 1805 as Dahme (forester's house) , 1846 as Col. Dahme od. Damm , 1861 as Dahme, Damm, Dame and finally as Leibsch-Damm . In 1774 there were 22 inhabitants. There was a forester's house and a customs bridge. In the course of the construction of the district road, the wooden toll bridge was renewed in 1879.
