Leif Zern

Leif Åke Zern (born July 6, 1939 ) is a Swedish writer and theater critic .

Life

From 1964 to 1966 Zern worked for the newspaper Stockholms-Tidningen and from 1982 to 1993 as head of the culture department for the newspaper Expressen . He was a theater critic for the newspaper Dagens Nyheter from 1968 to 1982 and has continued this activity there since 1993.

Zern published books on William Shakespeare and the director Ingmar Bergman ( Se Bergman ). For many years he followed and commented on contemporary European drama . In 2006 a German translation of the book Das Leuchtende Dunkle about the writer Jon Fosse , whom he has known since his beginnings in the mid-1990s, was published.

Today Zern lives in Uppsala .
