Lemony Snicket is a pseudonym of the American writer Daniel Handler . He published since 1999 under this name numerous children's books, including 13 volumes A Series of Unfortunate Events (original. "A Series of Unfortunate Events"). They are about the three orphans Violet, Klaus and Sunny Baudelaire, whose parents died in a fire. Since then they have been pursued by their relative Count Olaf ("Count Olaf"), who wants to get the children's great inheritance. The first volume in the series - The Bad Beginning - was released in 1999 and the 13th and last - The End - in 2006.

Handler gives the narrator Snicket a personality of his own, he is described in the books, details are told about him and a biography has even been published called Lemony Snicket: The Unauthorized Autobiography .

Once per book, Snicket gives the reader an insight into his life. We know he is

  • has a late love named Beatrice whom he was not allowed to marry and to whom every book in the series is dedicated.
  • Plays accordion.
  • wrote the 2nd volume of the gruesome story on the deck of his friend Bela's yacht.
  • Was chased 16 miles by an angry mob.
  • attended a masked ball to deliver a message to his beloved Beatrice.
  • once had a sword fight with a man who fixes televisions.
  • and his family lived in a large villa.
  • has (te) two siblings: Jacques and Kit Snicket.
  • was held captive in a castle by his enemies and was able to get free by printing business cards pretending to be an admiral in the French Navy.
  • was once stuck with his chauffeur on an island surrounded by man-eating crocodiles.
  • wrote the third volume in a room with a window overlooking a cemetery.
  • wrote the 8th volume behind the altar of the cathedral on the alleged virgin while a friend played a sonata on the organ to calm him down and so that visitors in the pews would not hear the noises of the typewriter.
